Cyber attacks with malware and ransomwares grew too much in 2018
According to a statistical survey by digital security firm SonicWall, malwares and ransmowares have never seen better days and are on the rise. Only between January and October 2018, a 44% increase in the number of malware was detected. Already the ransomwares, which are software that encrypt the files of the infected machines and only release them after the payment of redemptions, had an increase of 117% in the period.
More than 300,000 new variants of cyber attacks have been detected by SonicWall, which means an incidence of 1,095 strokes per day worldwide. Of these, 50,000 are attacks that were never seen before 2018.
Ransomwares, which used to be attacks targeting large companies, became more popular: web applications suffered 108 percent more attacks than in 2017, reaching a total of 93,816 threats. SonicWall warns that even small organizations should fear cyber attacks by maintaining safety precautions.
